Verse of the Day - 15th May

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.
— Luke 19:10

Devotion

Jesus reveals the very essence of His mission on Earth. He declares that He came not for the righteous, but for the lost, the broken, and the hurting. This verse encapsulates the heart of God's love for humanity – a love so deep that it drove the Son of Man to leave the glory of heaven and enter our broken world. Jesus didn't come to condemn or judge; instead, He came to seek out those who are lost and bring them into the loving embrace of the Father. His mission was one of redemption, restoration, and reconciliation. No one is too far gone or too broken to be beyond the reach of His saving grace. As followers of Christ, this verse reminds us of our call to embody His mission. We are called to seek out the lost, to share the message of hope and salvation with those who are wandering in darkness. Just as Jesus pursued the lost with compassion and love, so too are we called to demonstrate that same love to those around us. Let us be mindful of the lost souls around us, and let us be vessels of God's love and grace, shining His light into the darkest corners of the world.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, We thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who came to seek and to save the lost. We are humbled by the depth of Your love and the extent to which You went to rescue us from sin and death. Lord, help us to have eyes like Jesus, to see the lost and hurting souls around us. Give us hearts of compassion and courage to reach out to them with Your love and Your truth. Use us as instruments of Your grace, that through our words and actions, many may come to know the saving power of Your Son. Forgive us, Lord, for the times we have been complacent or indifferent to the plight of the lost. Renew in us a passion for Your mission, and empower us by Your Spirit to be faithful witnesses of Your love to the ends of the earth. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
